Cancer Fundraising Event Hosted by The Bobby Moore Fund UK
8th July, 2016
An evening of fine dining and culinary fun took place at the iconic Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, London on Monday 29th February 2016. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the England football team winning the World Cup. The victory in 1966, with the legendary Bobby Moore leading the way, is the highlight of football history for many.
For the third year in a row, Taleveras were the main sponsors of the event which is held annually to help raise funds to beat bowel cancer in memory of Sir Bobby Moore. This sponsorship will directly help to fund pioneering bowel cancer research and clinical trials in the UK. The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK has raised over £1million to date and aims to increase awareness of bowel cancer and to raise funds to combat the disease.
The highlight of the evening was a line-up of Michelin starred chefs creating a unique menu for the evening, together with equally matched wines from around the world. The chefs included Tom Sellers or Restaurant Story; James Knappett of Kitchen Table; Angela Hartnett of Murano; Alyn Williams of Alyn Williams at The Westbury and Michael Wignall of Gidleigh Park. Together they prepared a once-in-a-lifetime meal for the 250 guests who included Bobby Moore’s widow, Stephanie Moore; goalkeeper David Seaman, football Manager Roy Hodgson and Taleveras staff from around the world.
The event was compered by Matthew Wright, journalist, TV presenter/broadcaster and patron of The Bobby Moore Fund; Simon Rimmer, Chef Patron of award winning restaurants, author and co-presenter of Sunday Brunch; and Christopher Biggins, actor, media celebrity and TV personality who needs no introduction.
The evening, which included an auction on the night, was a remarkable success with a record £265,143 raised for bowel cancer research.
Igho Sanomi, Founder and Chairman of Taleveras said:
‘Taleveras is honoured to play a part in this special evening once again. We are a global organisation and as such we are committed to striving to help our global society.
